VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — The Van Zandt County Fire Marshal’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance locating a man in connection with a series of burglaries and residential structure fires in the Rolling Oaks area — located in northwest Van Zandt County near the northeast corner of Kaufman County.

Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Chuck Allen says his office has been actively pursuing tips related to a series of burglaries and subsequent structure fires in the area over the past month.

Allen says 42-year-old Michael Burgess was taken into custody on November 16, 2015, on a burglary of a habitation warrant initiated by his office. In addition to the burglary charge, Burgess has been charged with abandon/endanger a child, engaging in organized criminal activity, and reckless emission of air contaminant for illegal outdoor burning with bonds totaling nearly $60,000.

Police are now seeking the whereabouts of another man wanted in connection with the burglaries and arson. He was identified as Roger Conroy who is known to live in or around the Rolling Oaks subdivision.

“It appears from the investigation that there are several people involved in the burglaries and subsequent burning of structures in Rolling Oaks,” stated Allen who said additional warrants would be issued today and as other suspects are identified.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Conroy are asked to contact the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office at (903) 567-4133 or the Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers at (903) 567-7867.
