FORNEY, Texas — A police pursuit of a motorcycle near Forney ended in a crash in Rockwall County on Saturday afternoon.
During the pursuit, police reported speeds of 75 to 100 miles per hour.
Just before 5 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was attempting to catch up to a motorcycle that was traveling at a high rate of speed, north on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 just north of Interstate 20, and notified the Forney Police Department.
A Forney Police Department officer observed the motorcyclist driving at a high rate of speed on Broad Street and pursued the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist failed to yield and fled westbound on the eastbound service road of U.S. Highway 80, north onto FM 460, and north on FM 740 into Rockwall County.
The pursuit ended when the motorcyclist left the roadway and crashed into a tree and wood-rail fence at a sharp curve on FM 740, just east of Paradise Court.
The motorcyclist, who has mutliple arrests and convictions in Texas, including one for evading arrest, was taken by CareFlite ambulance to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
The motorcycle was bearing a Washington license plate and was registered out of Austin, Texas.
