FORNEY, Texas — A report of a reckless driver late Friday night turned police chase when the intoxicated driver failed to stop for police.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Martin Almanzo Garcia, now faces charges for driving while intoxicated, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 3 less than 28 grams.

Just before midnight, the Forney Police Department received a 911 call about a reckless driver traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 entering the city limits. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop in the area of Farm-to-Market (FM) 548.

The pursuit ended on Cone Flower Drive where Garcia was taken into custody without further incident.

Garcia is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $13,000.
