Robbery suspects use threat of propane tank explosion to rob pizza joint

MESQUITE, Texas โ€” Two alleged robbery suspects were arrested Monday night after holding up a Pizza Hut with a propane tank and a lighter, according to police.

MESQUITE, Texas โ€” Two alleged robbery suspects were arrested Monday night after holding up a Pizza Hut with a propane tank and a lighter, according to police.

The Mesquite Police Department responded to Pizza Hut in the 900 block of North Gross Road around 6 p.m. on Monday for a reported robbery.

โ€œThe caller advised that a white male suspect entered the restaurant with a blue propane container and a lighter in his hand,โ€ stated Mesquite Police Department Lieutenant Brian Parrish. โ€œThe suspect demanded money or he would blow up the propane tank.โ€

Parrish says the man, identified as 28-year-old Dawson Miles of Frisco, Texas, left the store with cash in hand, and entered a vehicle occupied by a female, identified as 24-year-old Amber Vickery, also of Frisco.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast to surrounding agencies and was stopped by the Balch Springs Police Department.

Miles and Vickery were both arrested and transferred to the Mesquite Jail. Miles has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of aggravated robbery and is being held on a total bond of $18,500. Vickery is charged with one county of aggravated robbery on a $15,000 bond.
