CRANDALL, Texas — Two separate traffic stops netted four arrests on drug, firearm, and resisting charges and resulted in the recovery of two firearms that were recently stolen from vehicles.
CRANDALL, Texas — Two separate traffic stops netted four arrests on drug, firearm, and resisting charges and resulted in the recovery of two firearms that were recently stolen from vehicles.
At approximately 8:18 p.m., on Monday, September 3, 2018, the Crandall Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Moonlight Trail.
"The driver, identified as 35-year-old Derrick Ware, immediately became uncooperative and resisted officers as he attempted to swallow an unknown substance," stated a release from the department.
Ware was eventually taken into custody without further incident and, during a search incident arrest, police officers located heroin, methamphetamine, and numerous prescription drugs weighing approximately 50 grams.
Ware was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 2 or 2A greater than or equal to four grams and less than 400 grams, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than one gram, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to one gram and less than four grams, possession of a dangerous drug, resisting arrest, search or transport, and tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.
Ware additionally has warrants out of Dallas County for failure to pay child support and two warrants out of Kaufman County for failure to appear and no drivers license when unlicensed. Bonds have not yet been set in his case.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, the Crandall Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2000 block of Hometown Boulevard.
According to police, a search of the vehicle yielded marijuana, two firearms which were recently reported stolen from vehicles during burglaries on September 2 and September 3, and stolen property during the same reported incidents.
Police arrested 20-year-old Gonte McGrown, 18-year-old Kierra Hazley, and 17-year-old Renel Beaty, all of Dallas, Texas, on initial charges for unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of marijuana. McGown was additionally charged with failure to identify.
Additional charges are pending, according to the release.
