TERRELL, Texas — A stolen 18-wheeler was recovered Wednesday afternoon after being reported stolen from the TravelCenters of America gas station on Interstate-20 in Terrell, Texas.
TERRELL, Texas — A stolen 18-wheeler was recovered Wednesday afternoon after being reported stolen from the TravelCenters of America gas station on Interstate-20 in Terrell, Texas.
The 18-wheeler tractor-trailer was reported stolen at approximately 3:30 p.m. by the owner who had gone into the gas station and returned to find it missing. At approximately 5:10 p.m., the Terrell Police Department, along with help from several Kaufman County agencies, was able to track the 18-wheeler using onboard GPS to County Road 163 off of State Highway 34, just north of Kaufman, Texas, where it was abandoned.
A witness told police they saw three males exit the 18-wheeler and enter a Dodge Caravan. No descriptions of the males or the vehicle were immediately available.
The trailer was empty and the truck was left running and unlocked, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
A Terrell Police Department forensics van was called to the scene to collect any possible evidence.
