KAUFMAN, Texas — A stolen firearm was recovered after a police chase with a suspected intoxicated driver last week, the Kaufman Police Department announced.

KAUFMAN, Texas — A stolen firearm was recovered after a police chase with a suspected intoxicated driver last week, the Kaufman Police Department announced.

On Friday, January 25, 2019, the Kaufman Police Department stopped a suspected intoxicated driver on U.S. Highway 175 and, upon making contact with the driver, he fled.

After a short pursuit, police say the driver, identified as 30-year-old Ricky Lee Estes of Seagoville, stopped and surrendered to police without further incident.

Police say Estes was armed with a firearm that was reported stolen out of Carrollton, Texas.

Estes was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on a $3,000 bond, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle on a $50,000 bond, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon on a $50,000 bond.
