Sunnyvale man arrested in connection with road rage, hit-and-run incident on U.S. Highway 80

MESQUITE, Texas โ€” UPDATE [June 18] โ€” A Sunnyvale, Texas, man was arrested in connection with a road rage and hit-and-run incident on U.S. Highway 80 earlier this month.

MESQUITE, Texas โ€” UPDATE [June 18] โ€” A Sunnyvale, Texas, man was arrested in connection with a road rage and hit-and-run incident on U.S. Highway 80 earlier this month.

The driver of a pickup truck who allegedly struck a motorcyclist during the incident was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on a $100,000 bond. He was identified by police as 27-year-old Corey James Graham of Sunnyvale.

ORIGINAL [June 11, 2018] โ€” A man and truck are sought in connection with a road rage and hit-and-run incident on U.S. Highway 80 earlier this month in Mesquite.

On June 2, 2018, at approximately 7:10 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department responded to westbound U.S. Highway 80 near IH 635 for a road rage incident turned hit-and-run.

"A group of motorcyclists had been traveling on Westbound US Hwy 80 when a white Chevrolet Silverado began tailgating them," stated Mesquite Police Department Lt. Brian Parrish. "A road rage incident then ensued over the actions of the Silverado driver."

Parrish says the motorcyclists and the Silverado stopped on the side of the highway when the driver of the Silverado exited the truck. After a road-side argument, Parrish says the Silverado driver returned to his pickup truck and quickly sped away โ€” swerving and striking one of the motorcyclists with the front right corner of his truck.

"The victim was thrown approximately 10 feet from the point of impact," stated Parrish."The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local urgent care facility."

A passerby recorded the incident and turned the video over to police.

ย The suspect vehicle is described as a white, four-door 2014-16 Chevrolet Silverado with possible damage to the front right, from this incident, andย  damage to the left side of the rear bumper, which may have been there before the incident. The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, slender build, a possible beard, and was wearing a Texas Rangers shirt and blue jean shorts.
