FORNEY, Texas — A Forney Police Department officer on "proactive" patrol observed a suspicious vehicle earlier this morning — leading to four arrests and the recovery of a vehicle reported stolen out of Crandall and other stoplen property, Forney Police Department Chief Mica Lunt tells inForney.com.
Around 1 a.m., the officer observed the vehicle in the Grayhawk subdivision, occupied by six individuals and shown to be stolen out of Crandall.
"Investigation revealed that the subjects were in possession of multiple items of stolen property and were preparing to steal another vehicle," stated Lunt.
Police officers contacted nearby residents and confirmed the individuals were in possession of stolen property.
At this time, Lunt says four of the individuals were arrested and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, theft between $30,000 and $150,000, a second-degree felony.
18-year-old Coby Smith, 19-year-old Austin Shaw, a male juvenile, and a female juvenile were arrested. The juveniles weren't identified because of their age.
Lunt says the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
