KAUFMAN, Texas — Telephone scammers in the Kaufman area are posing as police officers with the Kaufman Police Department, according to authorities.
Kaufman Police Department Captain Ed Black says a person(s) is pretending to be an officer with their department and telling would-be victims they have warrants and should mail money to avoid going to jail.
“The Kaufman Police Department will never call you and request any kind of money to keep you out of jail,” stated Black.
“We ask that people please pass this along to their friends, family and neighbors,” he said.
