TERRELL, Texas — A Terrell man was arrested following a police pursuit on Thursday night and is now facing drug and evading arrest charges.
TERRELL, Texas — A Terrell man was arrested following a police pursuit on Thursday night and is now facing drug and evading arrest charges.
Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says 37-year-old Gary Desmond Allen of Terrell, Texas, was observed driving at excessive speeds and disregarding a stop sign when a Terrell police officer attempted a traffic stop at Bradshaw Street and West End Street at approximately 6:31 p.m. on Thursday.
“As the Investigator attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed,” stated Sansom. “The Investigator engaged pursuit and the driver continued to evade officers with the vehicle.”
Sansom says Allen drove down a triangle embankment at Daniels Street, Scott Street, and Pinkston Street where he bailed from the vehicle and fled on foot.
Allen was apprehended by police officers in the 100 block of South Park Street.
Investigators located several small baggies in Allen’s vehicle which contained crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and marijuana in addition to several other small baggies commonly used to package narcotics.
Allen, who has previous charges for evading arrest or detention and evading arrest of detention with a vehicle, was charged with evading arrest or detention with a previous conviction and evading arrest of detention with a vehicle with a previous conviction.
The crack cocaine weighed at 3 grams and the powder cocaine weighed at 2.9 grams. The marijuana weighed 1.1 grams. Allen was charged with two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 created than 1 gram and less than 4 grams and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
Allen was transported to the Terrell Police Department detention center.
