29-year-old Ontarius Cardea Morris, aka Dub, voluntarily surrendered to the Texas Rangers in Dallas, Texas, yesterday, May 18, 2017, in connection with the shooting death of 23-year-old Ja Derek De Shawn Moss on May 5, 2017, in Terrell.
Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says the voluntary surrender came on the heels of a multi-agency, coordinated effort between the Terrell Police Department and the Texas Rangers which has been ongoing since the date of the incident.
Morris is pending arraignment at the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center and is expected to be held on a $250,000 bond.
At 4:48 a.m., on Friday, May 5, 2017, the Terrell Police Department was dispatched to a shooting incident in the 1300 block of South Rockwall Avenue on a 911 report a man had been shot at the location.
Upon arrival, Terrell Police Department officers located Moss who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Morris had fled the scene that morning but police were able to identify him and issue a murder warrant.
