TERRELL, Texas – The Terrell Police Department arrested 32-year-old Daniel Leon Roland after he led them on a pursuit through Terrell, Forney, and Mesquite on Saturday night, August 23, 2014.
Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom said officers were responding to a stolen vehicle report at approximately 8:13 p.m. in the 1400 block of Colquitt Road when they intercepted Roland on State Highway (SH) 205. Roland was driving a white Dodge dually which was just reported stolen.
Roland fled on SH 205 to County Road (CR) 234, Quail Lane, FM 1392, and back to SH 205. From there, Roland took Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 south through Forney, Texas, and onto westbound U.S. Highway 80 into Mesquite, Texas.
The pursuit ended when Roland wrecked his truck in a culvert near Emerald Drive in northwest Mesquite, Texas, and attempted to flee on foot.
Roland was arrested and booked into the Kaufman County jail with charges for evading arrest or detention with previous conviction, theft of property greater than or equal to $1,500 but less than $20,000, and possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram in a drug free zone. Bonds are set at $50,000 each for the evading and possession and $25,000 for the theft.
Roland has priors in Dallas County and Kaufman County for evading arrest, theft, deadly conduct, burglary of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance penalty group one, possession of marijuana, unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one, and several theft of property.
