At approximately 2:25 a.m., on October 31, 2018, the Terrell Police Department responded to a reported armed kidnapping in the 400 block of Greenwood Street. There, police say 39-year-old Cleothis Robertson of Terrell had taken a woman from the home at gunpoint.

A responding officer located Robertson and the female victim walking in the 400 block of Alamo Street, near the area of the reported offense. Robertson was still armed at the time of contact but, was holding the gun in a non-threatening manner.

"Robertson complied with all of the officer’s commands, dropping the weapon and assuming the prone position," stated Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom. "When back up officers arrived on scene, Robertson was taken into custody without incident and the weapon was secured."

The victim, who was living with Robertson at the offense address on Greenwood Street, was unharmed during the incident. Her sister, who was also assaulted by Robertson with the weapon, was also unharmed.

"Robertson showed great remorse for his actions and gave a full confession of the offense," stated Sansom. "He was angry over a reported relationship dispute and confessed this plan was premeditated."

Robertson is arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and deadly conduct. On the aggravated kidnapping charge, Robertson is being held on a $1 million bond.
