TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Police Department is investigating the armed robbery of La Quinta Inn which occurred early Saturday morning and may be linked to another similar case in Mesquite.
On Saturday, June 25, 2016, at approximately 3:33 a.m., the Terrell Police Department responded to La Quinta Inn at 1614 South State Highway (SH) 34 for an armed robbery which had just occurred.
“The employee advised officers that he saw a red vehicle, unknown make and model, pull under the front awning in front of the La Quinta Inn facing towards State Hwy 34,” stated Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom. “The clerk was standing behind the front counter when he saw a black female exit the red vehicle and she began moving towards the front door of the building.”
“Her face was covered by a mask and she was holding a pistol,” stated Sansom. “She entered and demanded the money.”
The clerk complied and the female left in the red vehicle northbound on SH 34 into Terrell.
After review of the surveillance video, police determined there was another individual driving the pickup truck.
The suspect who entered the hotel is described by police as a black female with a “short and stocky” build, who was wearing a black shirt, dark-colored or possibly dark-grey pants, and a dark-grey bandanna.
The two suspects may have committed a similar robbery earlier in the day in Mesquite, according to Sansom who said the descriptions of the suspects and suspect vehicle in that incident are similar to the Terrell case.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Terrell Police Department Investigation Division Sergeant J. Whitworth at (972) 551-6622 ext. 281 or the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers at (877) 847-7522.
