TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Police Department will increase DWI patrols during the 4th of July holiday thanks to a Texas Department of Transportation grant.
“Terrell Police received a Texas Department of Transportation reimbursement grant allowing officers to work the special assignment specifically tasked with DWI Enforcement,” stated Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
“We are mindful of how impaired driving claims thousands of innocent lives on our roadways every year and we want to do our part to reduce these tragedies,” he said.
In Texas, anyone driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 grams per deciliter or higher is considered legally impaired.
The Terrell Police Department will have increased police patrols out at various times until July 7, 2015, enforcing DWI infractions.
“Making people aware of the dangers of driving while impaired is crucial in the attempt to reduce the number DWI involved motor vehicle crashes,” said Kenneth Moore, grant coordinator.
