TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell ISD Police Department has taken a Furlough Middle School student into custody on charges of indecency with a child.
“The Terrell ISD Police Department became aware late last week of allegations of inappropriate conduct involving juveniles at Furlough Middle School. An investigation was initiated, as a result one juvenile has been taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing to look into any additional violations of State Law,” a statement said that was issued by Gary Mork, TISD Police Department chief on Wednesday.
The student was taken into custody on Tuesday and magistrated by a justice of the peace before meeting with investigators. The juvenile will remain in custody at the Henry Wade Detention Center in Dallas county until a detention hearing his held before a Kaufman County court at law judge according to court officials.
The district is also conducting it’s own investigation separate from the Terrell ISD Police department according to the district’s Director of Communications, Olivia Rice.
“The District takes all allegations of this nature seriously and will continue to do so in the future. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the District will follow the Student Code of Conduct and all applicable state laws,” said Rice in a statement to inForney.com
