FORNEY, Texas — A third person has been arrested in connection with the most recent burglary at CYA Guns and Ammo in Forney, according to the Forney Police Department.
18-year-old Christian Esparza was arrested and charged with burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity. He is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $40,000.
The other two arrests, in connection with the June 4, 2017, burglary of CYA, were of 17-year-old Brian Morales and an unnamed juvenile, according to Forney Police Department Investigator Sandra Rankin.
Morales was arrested in August and charged with burglary of a building and engaging in organized criminal activity. He is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $150,000.
Rankin says the investigation remains ongoing and several more arrests are expected in the case.
Separately, the ATF has charged Matias Morales with, among other federal charges, possession of a stolen firearm which was also stolen during the June 4 robbery, according to a federal complaint. Morales is believed to be involved in a string of DFW-area gun store burglaries with several others whose names were redacted from the federal complaint.
23-year-old Coredarius Douglas was arrested in connection with a separate burglary at CYA Guns and Ammo on April 4, 2017. Douglas is facing federal charges for convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. The stolen firearm, stolen from CYA, was recovered during a warranted search of Douglas’ home in an unrelated case.
Douglas’ jury trial has been rescheduled for March 5, 2018, before United States District Judge Ed Kinkeade, according to federal court records.
