Three arrested in credit card fraud ring

FORNEY, Texas — Three individuals were arrested after allegedly defrauding Walmart of Forney, Texas, of $19,000 in an organized credit card fraud ring.

FORNEY, Texas — Three individuals were arrested after allegedly defrauding Walmart of Forney, Texas, of $19,000 in an organized credit card fraud ring.

According to Forney Police Department Captain Jason Ray, the planning for the crime began on Facebook and was later perpetrated at Walmart in Forney, Texas. Two of the suspects made contact with the third suspect, a Walmart employee, over Facebook in an effort to defraud prepaid credit cards sold at the retailer.

Arrested were 22-year-old Ambra Anderson, 20-year-old Shaterica Harvey, and 18-year-old Chrishalon York. Each were charged with one count of credit card or debit card abuse and one count of engaging in organized criminal activity.

According to police, on October 26, 2014, two of the suspects went to Walmart and checked out $12,000 in fraudulent charges at the third suspect’s register. The next day, October 27, 2014, they returned and charged another $7,000 with the same associate.

Walmart’s loss prevention department contacted the Forney Police Department yesterday and notified them of the three individuals who were currently in the store. Officers arrived and arrested the three individuals.

According to the Forney Police Department, this continues to be an ongoing investigation and additional charges are expected.
