Three motorcycle pursuits in three days through Forney

FORNEY, Texas — In a 72-hour span, police have pursued three motorcycles in the Kaufman County area beginning Sunday afternoon.

FORNEY, Texas — In a 72-hour span, police have pursued three motorcycles in the Kaufman County area beginning Sunday afternoon.

The first pursuit begin on Sunday, July 26, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 80 in Forney. The driver failed to stop for a Forney Police Department officer and initiated a pursuit which traveled into Terrell on Interstate 20 and south on State Highway 34 into Kaufman.

Police lost sight of the motorcycle in a neighborhood as they entered Kaufman.

The second pursuit was initiated by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in Sunnyvale on Monday night. The motorcycle traveled eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 into Kaufman County where the Forney Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety joined the pursuit.

The motorcycle wrecked on U.S. Highway 80 near Spur 557. Despite losing his shoes in the wreck, the man attempted to flee on foot and was captured a short distance from the crash scene.

Overnight Tuesday, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office again initiated a pursuit with a motorcycle which was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80. The Forney Police Department and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the pursuit but pursuing officers lost sight of the motorcycle as it approached the eastern city limits of Forney.

In all three instances, law enforcement reported high speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.
