FORNEY, Texas — Two police pursuits ended in Forney within 30 minutes of each other on Tuesday night, netting at least two arrests and the recovery of a reported stolen vehicle.

FORNEY, Texas — Two police pursuits ended in Forney within 30 minutes of each other on Tuesday night, netting at least two arrests and the recovery of a reported stolen vehicle.

Just before 11 p.m., a Forney Police Department officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle reportedly stolen out of Mesquite, Texas. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer and a high-speed pursuit initiated southbound on Farm-to-Market (FM) 1641.

The Terrell Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety were notified of the pursuit.

The pursuit continued, at times reportedly over 100 miles per hour, north on FM 148, under Interstate 20, and westbound onto Spur 557 — back towards Forney.

Pursuing officers reported deploying spike strips on the vehicle, though it was unclear if they were successful. The pursuit came to an end just after 11 p.m. near U.S. Highway 80 and FM 548 in Forney with a felony stop.

And, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the Forney Police Department was notified of a pursuit entering their city limits from the Mesquite area. That pursuit ended in a felony stop on U.S. Highway 80 just west of FM 548. At least one person was arrested in that incident.
