Two suspects identified, warrants issued in connection with drive-by shooting in Forney

FORNEY, Texas — Two more alleged suspects have been identified and warrants issued in connection with a drive-by shooting in Forney which occurred earlier this year.

FORNEY, Texas — Two more alleged suspects have been identified and warrants issued in connection with a drive-by shooting in Forney which occurred earlier this year.

Two other named suspects had previously been arrested in connection with the case, according to police.

The drive-by shooting occurred on April 25, 2022, in the 500 block of East Broad Street. No injuries were reported in the incident but property damage was reported to at least two vehicles and a residence.

At the time of the incident, police officers responding to the shooting call observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed without its lights on, eastbound on East Broad Street.

Forney police officers gave chase and the suspect vehicle fled at speeds of approximately 100 miles per hour. The suspect vehicle wrecked out and multiple suspects fled on foot. Two were detained at the time — one was questioned and released and the other released to be transported to Dallas Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

On May 7, 2022, 19-year-old Diamond Latasia Jones of Duncanville, Texas, was arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting and pursuit. She was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. She was released the following day after posting $50,000 in bonds.

A couple weeks later, on May 24, 2022, 20-year-old Jontavia McKinzie of Forney, Texas, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of deadly conduct discharging a weapon. She was subsequently released on June 30, 2022, after posting $45,000 in bonds.

The Forney Police Department issued a Wanted poster on May 23, 2022, seeking the identities of two previously unknown individuals.

Today, October 19, 2022, the Forney Police Department says two other suspects were identified in connection with the shooting — 18-year-old Johnathon Deandre Williams of Plano, Texas, and a juvenile. Multiple felony warrants have been issued for the arrest of Williams and the identified juvenile.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
