Undercover drug operation in Kaufman leads to arrest and $80k in drugs seized

A Kaufman man was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, for possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

A Kaufman man was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, for possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.

The Kaufman Police Department, Kaufman County Narcotics team, and the Kaufman County multi-jurisdictional SWAT team executed a search at the residence of Sergio Martin Santoya, 35, of Kaufman. An earlier undercover operation by the Kaufman County Narcotics team lead officers to Santoya's residence in the 100 block of Melody Circle in Kaufman.

The investigators recovered 225 grams of methamphetamine and 3 kilos of a substance investigators believe to be cocaine. The total street value is estimated at over $80,000. The unknown substance has been sent to be analyzed to determine if it is cocaine.

Santoya was taken without incident and awaits arraignment at the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center on charges of possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one over 200 grams and the outstanding warrant for delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one over 4 grams but less than 200 grams. Both charges were in a drug free zone.
