FORNEY, Texas — One man was arrested following a slow-speed chase in Forney overnight and a woman was allowed out of the vehicle mid pursuit.
The pursuit began in downtown Forney just before midnight on Broad Street as a traffic stop with police. The male driver, identified as Larry Johnson of Huntley, Illinois, returned outstanding warrants for fraud from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Chicago, Illinois.
A female passenger in the vehicle called 911 and said the driver would allow her to exit the vehicle but he wasn’t going to stop. The female exited the vehicle on Broad Street near Pinson Avenue.
Once the female was out of the vehicle, Johnson continued on West Broad Street towards Liberty Hill where he took the U.S. Highway 80 exit ramp for Broad Street to enter the highway and turned eastbound. Johnson then continued at slow speeds on the highway and exited Farm-to-Market (FM) 548.
Johnson stopped on the south service road in front of Everett Sales where the Forney Police Department executed a felony stop. Johnson surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody.
Johnson has been charged by the Forney Police Department with evading arrest, a state jail felony. His bond information was not available pending arraignment.
