FORNEY, Texas — A vehicle that evaded police in Van Zandt County was located and stopped in Forney without further incident.

FORNEY, Texas — A vehicle that evaded police in Van Zandt County was located and stopped in Forney without further incident.

Just before 1 a.m., police in Van Zandt County attempted a traffic stop on a white Chevy Impala that was reportedly stopped in the middle of Interstate 20. The vehicle fled westbound and into Kaufman County.

The pursuing officers in Van Zandt County reportedly called off the pursuit after one of the pursuing officers was involved in a crash.

Nearly an hour after the pursuit was called off, a Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the vehicle traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 80 at Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 in Forney. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the Shell gas station on the north service road of U.S. Highway 80 just east of Pinson Road.

Units from the Forney Police Department assisted the deputy in a felony traffic stop. Three individuals from the car were detained. Ultimately, at least one person, a female, was arrested.

A Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted in the search of the vehicle.
