Woman dead after domestic dispute shooting in Kemp

KEMP, Texas – A Kemp woman was shot and killed on Tuesday night, March 11, 2014, in Kemp, Texas, during an alleged domestic dispute.

KEMP, Texas – A Kemp woman was shot and killed on Tuesday night, March 11, 2014, in Kemp, Texas, during an alleged domestic dispute.

According to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger, 67-year-old William Raymond Simons called 911 and reported the shooting and said he had shot the woman during a domestic dispute. Simons was arrested at the scene when deputies arrived and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Simons was booked into the Kaufman County Jail last night and charged with murder, according to Kaufman County Jail records. Simons bond was set at $500,000. The deceased woman has been identified as Roxie Whatley Quilter.

The incident occurred on Farm-to-Market (FM) 3396.
