Woman flees traffic stop, leads police on chase into Dallas County

KAUFMAN, Texas — A woman fled a traffic stop in Kaufman County on Saturday night — leading police on a chase into Dallas County.

KAUFMAN, Texas — A woman fled a traffic stop in Kaufman County on Saturday night — leading police on a chase into Dallas County.

The incident began after a Kaufman County Sheriff's Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle, department spokesperson Lt. Jolie Stewart told inForney.com.

The driver, later identified as 40-year-old Kristy Dawn Eversole, gave the deputy fictitious information and sped away from the traffic stop, she said.

Eversole led deputies westbound on U.S. Highway 175 through Kaufman and Crandall before entering Seagoville where a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the pursuit.

The pursuit turned northbound on Interstate Highway 635 where police successfully deployed spike strips.

Eversole continued to flee through Balch Springs, Mesquite, and Garland before coming to a stop at IH 635 and Forest Lane. She was taken into custody without further incident and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, reckless driving, possession of a dangerous drug, and possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams.
