KAUFMAN, Texas — A woman who stole an ambulance from a Kaufman, Texas, hospital last month and led police on a pursuit has been indicted by a Kaufman County grand jury.

KAUFMAN, Texas — A woman who stole an ambulance from a Kaufman, Texas, hospital last month and led police on a pursuit has been indicted by a Kaufman County grand jury.

The woman, 34-year-old Jennifer Lee Luke, allegedly was a patient at Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman, Texas, when she went outside and stole a CareFlite ambulance, fled on portions of U.S. Highway 175, and eventually onto Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 where Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputies spiked the ambulance’s tires in Lively, Texas, just west of Kemp, Texas.

The Kaufman County grand jury indicted Luke with aggravated assault with a deal weapon, theft greater than or equal to $100,000 and less than $200,000, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Luke remains jailed at the Kaufman County Jail and is being held on bonds totaling $180,000.
