The Terrell Police Department is asking for assistance in finding a French Legion of Honor Medal stolen last month from a World War II veteran's vehicle in Terrell, Texas.
The medal was reportedly stolen on September 17, 2013, at Braum's Ice Cream store located at 1100 West Moore Avenue at approximately 11:00 a.m. It was later reported stolen by the veteran last week to the Terrell Police Department in hopes that someone might know something about who stole the medal in an effort to recover it.
According to a release from the Terrell Police Department, the man received the medal from his service as a courier/messenger during World War II. The medal was in a wooden box in the center console of his 2011 Silver Honda Accord where it was stolen. The Terrell Police Department would not provide any further information about the victim in this case.
The medal, which fetches anywhere from $90 to $1,600 at auction, has very high sentimental value to the individual.
The Terrell Police Department currently does not have any leads or suspects in the case and information can be sent to the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers at (877) 847-7522.
