KAUFMAN COUNTY -Â Census Bureau data states that between 2022 and 2023, Kaufman County grew by 7.6%, making it the fastest-growing county in the United States.
According to a report released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Kaufman County’s population was 172,611 on July 1, 2022; by July 1, 2023, it was 185,690. For reference, the County's estimated population on April 1, 2020, was 145,307.
Recent estimates from the Census Bureau also state that Texas is home to six of the ten fastest-growing counties in the Country during the same period.
Kaufman’s neighboring county, Dallas, did not make the top ten list. Data shows that people are moving away from large cities to more rural areas where housing and the cost of living are cheaper.
The census data shows the southern United States saw the highest growth percentage overall.
