KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A female was taken by air ambulance after a reported accidental shooting this morning on County Road (CR) 122 in Kaufman County.
The shooting occurred in the 2000 block of CR 122 north east of Kaufman, Texas, on Thursday, October 30, 2014, just after 8 a.m. The woman was shot in the wrist and transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
The woman and her boyfriend told police they were hunting on their 4-wheeler prior to the shooting. The 4-wheeler became stuck and, while attempting back it out, a .410 shotgun loaded with pistol rounds fell off the 4-wheeler and discharged — striking the woman in the wrist.
The woman underwent surgery for her injuries and is currently listed in stable condition. This continues to be an ongoing investigation. No criminal charges are pending at this time, according to Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Captain Fred Klingelberger.
The College Mound Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, a medical helicopter, and an East Texas Medical Center ambulance responded to the incident.
