TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell City Council was briefed in January on what the City calls the “Good News” of the month.

The good news included Downtown updates that are happening through March, a new Sanitary Sewer Camera, and a suspect located and arrested on Christmas Day with the help of Flock Cameras.

The Terrell City Council recently approved using the popular Flock Cameras, which helped identify and arrest a suspect driving through the city. The officers identified the vehicle and the suspect while driving through Terrell. An arrest warrant was issued, and the suspect was arrested on Christmas Day.

The new flock cameras aided in the recovery of 27 stolen vehicles in 2023, a number the city says will increase in 2024.

Recently, the Council approved the purchase of a new Sanitary Sewer Camera. The Utilities department has begun training and has modified their trailer to allow for the transportation of the camera to job sites to aid in projects.

Terrell’s Housing Director, Denish Simon, has been appointed to the Texas Health Community Impact Dallas and Kaufman Leadership Council for two years. The Council guides the Texas Health Community as it seeks to accomplish the vision that aligns with Texas Health’s mission for residents in Dallas and Kaufman counties.

Downtown landscaping is set to begin soon, with spring just over six weeks away. The work includes new planter covers, irrigation, and pavers, which will be installed upon arrival near the end of February.
