MABANK—At least two people got bad gas from an Exxon Tiger Mart in Kemp/Mabank in early February, and one got a runaround from the company and its insurance company.
Jenny Parks, a local attorney, filled up her car at the Exxon Tiger Mart in Mabank on February 11, 2024, and then her car broke down. She sent her car to the shop, where they told her it was bad gas. They fixed the car for just under $1,000, and since then, Parks has attempted to work with the company and their insurance to remedy the financial side.
The manager at the Tiger Mart gave Parks the name and contact number of the alleged insurance agent, who, as of Thursday morning, had not provided a claim number or information about how to resolve this.
Julie Keller also got gas on the 10th of February and had to spend $1,000 to repair her vehicle. Keller told inForney.com that she is simply looking for answers and for someone to reimburse her for damages due to bad gas.
Kemp 175 LLC owns the Tiger Mart, located just off 175 next to the Cedar Creek Country Club. Ksali Realty LLC owns the building.
Sam, the manager at the Tiger Mart, told inForney.com that as of this morning at 9:21 a.m., he had given Parks the information for the adjuster and the claim number. He said that on day one, he reached out to his insurance company and apologized for the delay, but the delay was on the insurance company's side.
Sam says the company had to throw away $40,000 in gas and clean the tanks. They have four policies- underground, above ground, in the tank, and in the store. He said he knew which policy to file under once he found out where the problem stemmed from. He stated that the delivery driver had water in the tank, which led to the downhill slide.
Sam was asked why it took a month to get a claim number. He reiterated that it had nothing to do with him and solely blamed the insurance company for the delay.
