FORNEY - Last week, the Forney City Council approved a replat of the AMC property and a $390,000 contract for enhancements to Fire Station 2.

Thinking ahead, the Forney City Council approved a replat of the 7.463-acre property owned by AMC Theaters. The replat will establish the necessary boundaries and easements for creating an outparcel lot to develop retail or restaurant space within a portion of the AMC parking lot. In recent months, the Forney City Council has had a development focus on enhancing amenities in the city and generating more sales tax revenue.

The Council also approved a contract with Conduit Architecture and Design, LLC, for the expansion and renovation of Fire Station No. 2, not exceeding $390,800. The proposed enhancements are increased bay capacity, additional dormitories, and interior upgrades.

The next City Council meeting will be held on September 3, 2024.
