SEAGOVILLE, Texas — A 15-year-old burglary suspect led Seagoville police on two separate vehicle pursuits on Tuesday morning before wrecking, fleeing on foot, and being taken into custody following a brief manhunt.
A Seagoville Police Department officer attempted to stop a white Ford Ranger for traffic violations on Tuesday morning when the driver of the vehicle fled the officer on westbound U.S. Highway 175.
The Seagoville Police Department, in a statement on Wednesday morning, said the initial pursuit was terminated due to the erratic driving exhibited by the fleeing driver.
The pickup truck was again spotted by Seagoville police officers in the same area the first pursuit was initiated. Again, officers attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver fled on westbound U.S. Highway 175 into southeast Dallas.
The driver took the Second Avenue/Bruton Road exit from U.S. Highway 175 but was unable to navigate the turn where he wrecked into a wooded area and fled on foot into the densely wooded area, according to the department.
With the assistance of Dallas police officers, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter, the driver was taken into custody a short time later without further incident.
The driver was a 15-year-old male, known to the department, who had an outstanding burglary of a habitation warrant. He is now charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and was released to the custody of the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center.
