Arlington, TX - Kaleb Layne Nix, a 26-year-old babysitter from Arlington, has been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children. U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Leigha Simonton, announced the sentence, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman.
Nix was indicted in July after a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led investigators to him. He was found to have uploaded files containing sexually explicit images of children. A subsequent search of his phone uncovered videos and images depicting the sexual exploitation of at least 15 children, aged three to seven.
His sentence consists of 720 months in total, with terms for two counts running consecutively. The judge further stipulated that this federal sentence would be served consecutively to any future sentences stemming from pending state charges related to sexual abuse and child pornography.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between Homeland Security Investigations and the Arlington Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aisha Saleem led the prosecution of the case.
