The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) and the Forney Police Department are warning residents to lock their vehicle doors. An out-of-state gang may be targeting vehicles at daycare centers, churches, post offices, school parking lots, and other areas people tend to leave their belongings in the car, even if for only a short amount of time.

More details have been released about this case on November 16, 2012 and covered by inForney.com

The gang that the Kaufman County Sheriff’s investigators believe to be behind the recent upsurge in burglaries is the “Felony Lane” gang. Last year the Felony Lane gang hit north Texas in the Collin, Tarrant, and Dallas counties and it appears they have made their way to Forney and Kaufman County. The gang is known to steal purses in their targeted areas and then use the stolen identification to cash checks.

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office says that the gang is from Florida, Illinois, and Tennessee and that reports of related crime sprees are in at least seven other states.

The Forney Police Department, with the help from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, has made two arrests in the case from burglaries on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Forney’s Noah’s Ark Day Care center off of FM 1641. In a press release, KCSO states that “investigators have recovered all of the purses and contents from these burglaries. All property stolen has been returned to its rightful owners.”

Because of the ongoing investigation Forney Police Department and the KCSO could not release anymore information. Updates are expected tomorrow morning.

Noah's Ark sent newsletters to the parents of children at their daycare after the incidents on Wednesday morning urging parents to lock their doors.
