Constable Johnson warns Travis Ranch and Windmill Farms residents following recent arrest

FORNEY, Texas — Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson is warning residents of Travis Ranch and Windmill Farms following a recent arrest.

FORNEY, Texas — Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson is warning residents of Travis Ranch and Windmill Farms following a recent arrest.

According to Johnson, his office arrested 49-year-old George Jeffrey Kokinda in Travis Ranch on Tuesday afternoon on multiple outstanding warrants. After the arrest, officers seized methaphetamine from Kokinda’s vehicle and he was later charged with possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1.

The alarming part, according to Johnson, is Kokinda claimed he worked for a homebuilder in the area and handled all warranty claims for that homebuilder — which services certain homes in Travis Ranch and Windmill Farms.

According to court records, Kokinda’s recent criminal history includes convictions for burglary of a building and theft of property in Tarrant County in 2013 and 2014, respectively, and also a possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than one gram in 2013.

“You, as a homeowner, have the right to contact the builders to make sure their employees have a clean criminal history before they send someone out to do work,” Johnson stated.

Johnson also says homeowners should be cautious and not be home alone at the time repairs are conducted and, more importantly, do not let your children handle the matter.

“As I said, this background was unbelievable and I was amazed that a home builder would allow this employee to go into your house to do anything, whatsoever,” stated Johnson.

Johnson says he is working to verify the Kokinda’s claims of working for the homebuilder and did verify Kokinda was in possession of several work orders with nearby addresses.

The homebuilder, Lillian Custom Homes, sent a letter to area residents in response to the arrest on Wednesday. The response can be read, here.
