CRANDLAL, Texas — A Crandall Independent School District student was arrested last Friday and charged with terroristic threat in connection with alleged comments made by the student.

The 16-year-old student was arrested after school hours on Friday and transported to the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center where he is being held pending a hearing before a Kaufman County judge, according to Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters.

"The comments made by the student were not specific to a time or date, but were significant enough that several ISD staff members had concerns that were communicated to a School Resource Officer," Winters told inForney.com.

"Working with the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office, the elements of the offense were confirmed and the subject was taken into custody at his residence," he said.

Winters says at no time was there a weapon on campus.

"Crandall ISD and the Crandall Police Department works hand in hand to help maintain a safe learning environment for the students, parents, staff and visitors," stated Winters.
