KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A Dallas man has been arrested and charged with evading arrest and unlawful carrying of a weapon after leading police on a 30-minute, multi-county police pursuit which traveled I-20 through Kaufman County.

Just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014, a Garland police officer clocked 37-year-old Rodric Earl Wooten, who was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala, traveling over 100 miles per hour on President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT), according to Garland PD Public Information Officer Joe Harn.

The officer attempted to stop Wooten who continued to flee police at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit traveled southbound on PGBT, west on I-30, south on I-635, and eventually east on I-20 through Kaufman County.

As the pursuit continued on I-20 past Canton, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers deployed stop sticks which punctured a tire on Wooten's vehicle. The pursuit ended after more than 30 minutes due to the tires on Wooten's vehicle being flattened.

Officers discovered two loaded handguns and a loaded rifle inside Wooten's vehicle at the time of his arrest. Wooten was booked into the Garland Jail where he awaits arraignment.
