KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The Drug Enforcement Agency, as well as other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, were eradicating the remnants of a marijuana grow operation off Malloy Bridge Road and the river bottoms of the East Fork Trinity River earlier today.

The Seagoville Police Department was on scene Friday morning with state and federal agencies as helicopters were utilized in removing and eradicating the remnants of the marijuana grow operation near the Dallas-Kaufman County line.

Seagoville Police Department Chief Ray Calverly says the operation was discovered during a fly-over of the areas along the East Fork Trinity River. Its unknown how long the site had been utilized or abandoned.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is the lead investigating agency in this incident. A spokesperson was unavailable before press.

The DEA Air Wing unit, Texas National Guard, and the Texas Department of Public Safety often conduct aerial reconnaissance in areas ideal for the cultivation of marijuana through the Domestic Marijuana Eradication (DME) Program.

In September 2014, through DME efforts, a large marijuana grow operation was discovered along the High Point Creek in between Forney and Terrell. Approximately 2,500 marijuana plants were eradicated in that incident.

Anyone with information on this marijuana grow site or other cultivation efforts, are encouraged to contact the Texas Marijuana Hotline at 1 (800) 868-MARI (6274). Rewards are possible for information leading to the seizure of marijuana.
