TERRELL, Texas — A disturbance and 911 call for shots fired in the 400 block of Mineral Wells in Terrell on Friday night led to three arrests and the seizure of a weapon, drugs, and cash.
TERRELL, Texas — A disturbance and 911 call for shots fired in the 400 block of Mineral Wells in Terrell on Friday night led to three arrests and the seizure of a weapon, drugs, and cash.
Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom says police were dispatched to 414 Mineral Wells Street in reference to shots fired at approximately 7:08 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017.
The caller told police two black males were shooting and were seen dragging a female into the house, according to Sansom.
“Upon approach to the residence, [the officers] observed several subjects sitting in the living room through the open door,” stated Sansom. “Due to the possibility of a weapon at/within the location officers began giving the subjects commends to exit the residence with their hands visible.”
Sansom says one of the subjects slammed the front door closed upon hearing verbal commands from police and several individuals were seen, again through an unobscured window, running to the rear of the residence where they jumped out a window.
Officers apprehended two individuals who ran towards Bradshaw Street — 32-year-old Uriel Jormon Ford and 41-year-old Carlos Rudale George.
Once a safe number of police officers arrived on scene, they made entry into the home and conducted a safety search due to exigent circumstance pertaining to the initial 911 call indicating a female was drug into the residence and police believed anyone inside may be armed and dangerous, according to Sansom. The reported female was not located.
Upon entry, police officers located 33-year-old James Demond Robinson and observed small yellow baggies commonly used to package illegal narcotics as well as at least one of the baggies containing a white powdery substance believed to be powder cocaine, Sansom stated.
Sansom says police officers exited the residence and narcotics investigators were called to obtain a search warrant.
The search warrant was obtained and police located and seized the following: two small baggies with suspected powder cocaine located on floor near window, small baggie with suspected powered cocaine located on floor, yellow baggies and a digital scale with suspected drug residue commonly used to distribute narcotics, one round green pull with “1UP or 7UP” on its side, a Texas ID card bearing name James Demond Robinson Black/Male 03-05-84, $265 and $411 in U.S. currency separately seized, and a 9mm “Uzi sub-machine gun” containing 25 live rounds in an extended magazine with one live round in the chamber.
“All currency was seized due to the fact Investigators believe the money was proceeds from the sales of illegal narcotics transactions,” stated Sansom.
Robinson was arrested on an active class C warrant from the Terrell Police Department and was additionally charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than one gram. Ford was arrested on an active pardon/parole warrant and was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than one gram and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. George was charge with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 less than one gram.
Robinson, of Terrell, Texas, was released from the Kaufman County Jail after posting a $25,000 bond. Ford remains jailed on bonds totaling $125,000 and George remains jailed on a $50,000 bond.
