Drug bust leads to high speed chase in Kaufman

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men after they led police officers and deputies on a high speed chase through Kaufman on November 20, 2012, at approximately 2:20 p.m. with speeds in excess of 95 miles per hour. The chase began after investigators were conducting an undercover investigation of a drug buy at an undisclosed location in Kaufman, Texas.

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men after they led police officers and deputies on a high speed chase through Kaufman on November 20, 2012, at approximately 2:20 p.m. with speeds in excess of 95 miles per hour. The chase began after investigators were conducting an undercover investigation of a drug buy at an undisclosed location in Kaufman, Texas.

The operation was being headed by the Kaufman County Narcotics Team with help from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Kaufman Police Department. Once officers attempted to stop the vehicle the suspects accelerated into traffic on Jackson Street and then onto northbound Highway 243. Pat Laney, Public Information Officer with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, stated in a press release the “suspects could be seen throwing items out of the passenger window.”

The suspects then circled back to Kaufman where they were apprehended, without injury, near the Kaufman County Court House. Laney said, “Officers were able to recover most of the illegal property thrown out of the vehicle during the chase.” Officers recovered over $720 in cash, digital scales, three cell phones, 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine, small baggies, and several pills believed to be Xanex.

Carl Lynn Fulton Jr., 28, of Euless and Joseph Shane Icenhower, 22, of Sulphur Springs were arrested and transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center. Fulton had an outstanding warrant with the Cockrell Hill Police Department and was charged with manufacture and delivery of a substance in penalty group one, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, possession of a dangerous drug, and evading arrest or detention. Icenhower also had outstanding warrants with the Cockrell Hill Police Department and warrants in Van Zandt County and Hopkins County. Icenhower was charged with manufacture and delivery of a substance in control group one, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and evading arrest or detention.

No bond has been set for Icenhower and Fulton is being held on bonds set at $1,110,611.
