More details have been released about the burglaries linked to the "Felony Lane" gang that has targeted the Forney and Kaufman County areas. Initial Report: Arrests made in gang related purse burglaries at Forney daycare centers
The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to the initial burglary reports at Noah's Ark II on FM 1641 and informed the Forney Police Department of the possible suspect descriptions, two black males driving a maroon Nissan. Forney Police Office S. Stewart noticed a vehicle matching the description at the Noah's Ark I location on West Broad Street. The suspects vehicle began to leave the parking lot as Officer Stewart entered, Officer Stewart noticed two purses in the spot the suspects just left from.
Officer Stewart performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the two suspects as Benny Lee Doe Jr., 28, of Dallas with a Florida driver's license, and Steven Taurus Green of Palm Beach, Florida.
Officer Stewart detained the two suspects and conducted a search of the suspects vehicle which revealed more evidence linking the suspects to the burglaries in the area. The purses that were recovered in the parking lot of Noah's Ark I were taken by the suspects near the 600 block of Bois' D Arc and from the Post Office parking lot at 102 East Broad Street in Forney, Texas.
Both suspects were booked into the Forney Police Department and later transported to the Kaufman County Jail. Green was charged with fraudulent use of identifying information with a $400,000 bond and two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle with bonds set at $12,500 for each. Doe was charged with fraudulent use of identifying information with a bond of $500,000, three counts of burglary of a motor vehicle in Forney with bonds set at $12,500 each, and two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle in Kaufman County with bonds set at $10,000 each.
Whether or not there is still an eminent threat of future burglaries related to this gang's organized crime, Det. Clay with the Forney Police Department advises that all residents lock their car doors at all times and remove valuable possessions. Clay also said that there have not been any reported violent crimes or assaults related to these burglaries.
