CRANDALL, Texas — A female juvenile faces a robbery charge after stealing a vehicle in Crandall and, in the process, causing injuries the vehicle's owner, according to police.

At approximately 11:37 p.m., on Wednesday, January 26, 2018, the Crandall Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle in the 4000 block of Hillhaven Drive in the Heartland community.

"Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who advised he heard a noise outside his residence and observed his Gray 1997 Chevrolet pickup backing out of his driveway," Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters told inForney.com. "As he attempted to stop the vehicle, he received injuries to his hand and knee as the vehicle accelerated away."

At approximately 11:50 p.m., the Crandall Police Department received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 2000 block of Angel Way, also in Heartland. The caller stated they saw a female exit the vehicle and run away, only to return moments before the police officers arrived.

The female, later identified as a juvenile, admitted to driving the vehicle which matched the description of the stolen vehicle.

"Due to the injuries received by the victim during the theft, the juvenile was taken into custody for robbery," stated Winters.

The juvenile, who will not be identified because of her age, was transported to the Van Zandt County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.
