In Arlington, former Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Bush was detained and charged following a multi-vehicle accident that he allegedly caused and subsequently fled. On the evening of October 4th, at around 8:30 p.m., Arlington observed a 2023 Lincoln Aviator, driven by 38-year-old Bush, behaving erratically on Pioneer Parkway. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, Bush did not comply.
Shortly thereafter, officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision at East Pioneer Parkway and South Collins Street. Reports indicate that Bush’s vehicle ran a red light, crashing into a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and subsequently impacting two additional vehicles, a 2010 GMC Yukon and a 2008 Toyota Corolla, which were stationary at the intersection.
Bush reportedly tried to escape the scene on foot but was apprehended by eyewitnesses. Both Bush and the Silverado's driver were hospitalized, though neither sustained life-threatening injuries.
Authorities stated that Bush refused a roadside sobriety test; however, they suspected intoxication based on his behavior. He now faces charges that include driving while intoxicated (DWI), accident involving injury, and evading arrest.
