FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Police Department announced an arrest in an incident which took place in Diamond Creek on Wednesday morning, describing in an arrest affidavit the incident was an armed home invasion robbery in retaliation for an earlier robbery in Dallas.
Police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Vista Ridge on Wednesday morning on an unknown type incident. In response to the incident, nearby Crosby Elementary was placed on a brief and precautionary soft shelter in place while police investigated.
Little details were available immediately following the incident however, following several police interviews, an arrest warrant was issued for one of what’s expected to be many involved in the case.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 23, 2017, Joseph Carrillo, a resident of the Vista Ridge Road home, and his friend, Malik Gary, stole money from the counter at a tattoo parlor in Dallas, Texas, while getting tattooed. Carrillo and Gary fled the parlor and returned home to their homes in Forney.
The stolen money belonged to Talecia Sweat.
Gary told police he received a call that Sweat and her “brothers” we're coming to Forney to kill him and Carrillo, at which point Gary called the Forney Police Department requesting police to Carrillo’s address.
Sweat told investigators she became mad when Carrillo and Gary robbed her, called her “brothers,” and came to Forney to retaliate against Carrillo.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Sweat and the two black males knocked on Carrillo’s door on Vista Ridge Road and awoke Carrillo’s grandfather who answered the door.
“When he opened the door, two black males forced their way into the residence,” states the arrest warrant affidavit. “One black male held the victim at gunpoint while a second black male searched the residence for the victim’s grandson, Joseph Carrillo, who was asleep in his bedroom at the time.”
Police say Sweat was arrested for aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity, both first-degree felonies. She is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on bonds totaling $1 million, $500,000 for each charge.
“Other suspects are still being sought and additional arrests are expected soon,” the Forney Police Department stated on Friday morning.
Gary and Carillo are being investigated by the Dallas Police Department regarding the alleged robbery at the tattoo parlor that occurred in the early morning hours of August 23, 2017, in the City of Dallas.
Charges had not been filed the time of press.
This is a developing story.
