Last year's class graduated 27 community members who, among other things, participated in an orientation and a tour of the Forney Police Department, weekly courses focused on patrol tactics and equipment, traffic stops, criminal investigations, communications, services and programs, guns and weapons, DWI, SWAT, and active shooter scenarios, court, jail, and records.
The class also attended a course at Eastfield Community College which included an interactive “Shoot, Don’t Shoot” scenario.
Forney Police Department detective Michael Clay says the class will likely be a prerequisite to those wanting to participate in the Citizens on Patrol C.O.P. program.
