On February 29, 2024, a Kaufman County Jury in the 86th District Court found Brown-Radford guilty of Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced him to 50 years in the Texas Penitentiary.
According to a statement from the Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, evidence was entered into the record that showed Brown-Radford lured his victims to a location in Windmill Farms on the pretext they were purchasing a small amount of marijuana.
The shooting occurred on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at approximately 6:24 p.m. in the 9000 block of Lone Cypress Drive in the Windmill Farms neighborhood east of Forney.
Brown-Radford was allowed to enter the backseat of their car to complete the transaction when Brown-Radford began shooting. He shot both victims in the back and then fled on foot.
A “Good Samaritan” offered assistance, and both victims were rushed to Dallas area hospitals, where they both survived, including the child. The female victim has been left permanently paralyzed.
In a statement released by the District Attorney’s Office, DA Erleigh Wiley thanked everyone involved for bringing justice to the victims and their families.
“The prosecution team included ADA Katherine Snyder, ADA Bill Fay, DA Investigator Walter Hughey, Trial paralegal Reyna Huerta, and paralegal Holly Spindle.
