Forney woman charged with arson of her own home, held on $200,000 bond

FORNEY, Texas — A Forney woman was arrested and charged with arson after a structure fire at her residence on Aimee Street on Tuesday afternoon.

FORNEY, Texas — A Forney woman was arrested and charged with arson after a structure fire at her residence on Aimee Street on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., firefighters responded to the home in the 400 block of Aimee Street after receiving a report the homeowner caught the house on fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported smoke and flames showing from the residence.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire which extensively damaged the residence, according to Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend.

“Most of the house suffered either flame or smoke damage,” Townsend told inForney.com.

The woman was located at a family member’s residence on Broad Street where she was taken into custody without incident.

The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the Forney Fire Department in the investigation into the cause of the fire.

The woman, identified as 66-year-old Leolita Louis Dilworth, was charged with arson with the intent to damage a habitation or place of worship and is being held at the Kaufman County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
